A very nice & brief article.. You are absolutely right that wearing a pack will surely reduce the nakedness feeling & the joy. I would have certainly joined you to hike on any day, but so sorry that I live thousands of miles away from you. As I am not brave enough to hike solo as you does, I would have surely loved to hike with you..Let's hope & pray that one day I will enjoy naked hiking with you..

It is a lovely plant. We have entire hillsides that are vaguely blue from it. When the regular vegetation recovers, it will die off. It needs the disturbance from a fire to grow. We don't know nearly as much about its toxin as we do about poison ivy. It isn't an allergic reaction, so antihistamines don't work. We don't even know if it can be effectively washed off. There are a lot of "maybes" with this plant.

Better be safe than sorry.

I may be wrong but it seems to me there is a smidgen of apology for the weather, if so, no need, the pics, content and attitude of this piece are really lovely. In my neck of the woods, north central Quebec, Canada we have some mildly nice days but we haven’t had a full day yet.

Saturday the air was 10C (50F) the water was an inviting 20C (68F) so I swam!

Keep these adventures coming …

Hi Fred. Thanks for the map - this is very helpful with understanding the protected lands in the USA. I also note that these areas are Federally protected - so it helps with our respect for our planet and messaging to us humans who inhabit the planet. Best regards, Kevin

Hi Fred. Great to receive your experiences (the narrative, photos and video). May I ask about the ownership status of the land you are walking on? Is it public land? In New Zealand there is limited outdoor spaces to take walks naked, let alone the weather. So I am very envious. Thanks. Best regards. Kevin

It is public land, part of the Angeles National Forest.

The Pacific Crest Trail is a public trail that stretches from the Mexican Border to the Canadian border over two thousand miles - well over 3000 km.

Thanks Fred for your prompt response. Great to know there are tracks of land (and ocean) that are preserved.

You might like this map. It is just Federally owned land and not state or local owned public land or privately managed open space.

It will probably be a long flight just to hike with me.

I’ve done much crazier things than that! Writing from a plane right now, in fact, for two days in Portland. 🤪

The Pacific Northwest is very nude-friendly.

Let me know when you are coming out, and I’ll pencil in something. It is now summer here. Today hit 103F. Most of my hikes will be at high elevations.

I think you should try writing for Jill. She’s super busy. And I’m running out of things to say.
