I got a light touch of color ten days ago when I went for a skinny dip. No pain, no peel.

My first actual burn was from last week when I went to Joshua Tree National Park when I went freehiking there 4 days in a row. It was quite the adventure. Doesn't really hurt, just a minor irritation. Given that I wore a pack, I now have a weird set of tan lines.

For those of us in the South Pacific, May brings the colder weather and shorter daylight hours. While this year has been unseasonably warm, we are still (getting temperatures of 20C) the opportunities for sunburn are getting fewer. As I sit here in my home office, looking out at the Autumnal colours, I am reminded that winter is nearly here. It is with some sense of jealousy that I read the comments from my Northern friends, where their spring and summer are promising more opportunities to top up the vitamin D and to warm the skin. Enjoy the sun.

The South Pacific sounds so romantic. We are blessed to have some members from Down Under, and during our northern winter I've found myself pointing to several stories out of New Zealand and Australia. I would love to visit sometime. Where are you in the South Pacific?

We are in New Zealand, a city called Tauranga.

I just googled Tauranga. It looks lovely, especially the long beaches. How do they feel about nudity on the beaches there? As for weather, I'm thinking it doesn't get below 32F there in the winter, yes? I hope you share some of the scenic shots from the area on your newsletter blog here! It's so nice to see images from everybody's neck of the world. P.S. If you ever want to do a naturist tourist-type piece with lots of pics for The Naturism Community, you're always welcome!

Jillian, There are plenty of places where nudity is accepted, and plenty more, where it is remote enough not to matter. Our winter Temperature rarely gets below 4C (39F).

(First-time commenter!) Alas, it's still too cold (single digits Celsius) here in Nova Scotia and even if we get up to the predicted mid-teens and sunny this Tuesday and Wednesday, it will still be cold along the Atlantic coast, where our nude beach is. I don't live in the country like you (somewhat jealous) but I do have a back deck with privacy so I hope to be making use of that this week for some nude sunbathing for the first time this year! Then maybe later this month it will be tolerable at the beach, but realistically I often don't get out there until June because of the cold and the frequent spring fog. Then July, August and sometimes September can be pretty awesome!

Welcome aboard, Bob! Yes, it is cold out in the Maritimes. But it sure is beautiful out there.

I have been spending some quality time in the sun. Hopefully I will have a summer tan soon.

A few years ago I converted to a full carnivore diet, the evolutionary food of our prehistoric ancestors. I lost over 100 lbs without ever going hungry, and have never been more healthy. One of the widely reported side benefits of eating a full carnivore diet is immunity from sunburn. I still go naked outside all summer, but I haven't gotten sunburned since I changed my diet.

This year has been cold and rainy, but I have been outside a few times. Of course I didn't get sunburn.

yes! a bit unexpected. 2 weeks ago in our private back yard, we emptied and refilled our pool, all in the nude. spending all day out there in mid april, not worrying about it. well that evening i noticed some sunburned spots on my lower back, butt andshoulders. very happy it was not severe.... and yesterday, just relaxed in the sun, being careful. did get a slight red allaround but it feels good!! srpring!!! great time of the year here in the Arizona Basin.

Our spring in southern England has been very hit and miss with regard to outdoor nudist weather. Recent years have warmed up quickly by early May, this one seems reluctant to do similar. The Easter weekend was unusually consistently warm for a long holiday weekend and it was really nice to be nude outside a lot then. There have been a few other short spells of a few days when nude socialising was enjoyed outside. Starting to do this again in spring really highlights to me why I love social nudism so much after the cooler and usually greyer winter months. I enjoy indoor social nudism but it is the freedom sensed while feeling the air and warmth of the sun on my body that is the strongest reminder to me of why I've been a nudist for many years. Starting to be nude outside regularly again is my favourite springtime ritual, it never feels anywhere as good in clothing, being completely naked in the rays of the sun feels so free and natural. We expect a high today of about 17C, warm but very grey.

I haven't had any sunburn this year. my skin tone has darkened a bit, consistently, with no tan lines. I've had those strange patterns before mentioned above which are caused by backpacks while hiking nude, they do look weird.
