February - and once again we are sinking into drought. Warm Santa Ana winds blowing from the NE and desiccating us.

I wish we could transport some of our snow down to California, Fred. I hope you get some rain soon.

I feel a lot of pent up demand in my area to get outside and get naked when warm weather comes. I am thinking of making a trip to Turtle Lake resort south of Battle Creek in Michigan. Has anyone in this group ever been there. I just want to be naked with other people not just in my back yard.

I totally understand about wanting to socialize, especially after two years of pandemic restrictions. I like to sit in the hot tub with other nudists and just chat. Also, being on a clothing-optional beach with other folks is nice, too.

a nice hot tub would be great today. II am sure your part of Quebec is even colder. I was born in Montreal.

I have not been to Turtle Lake, but it has been highly recommended to me by several different people. It’s on my “to visit” list for sure.

Great idea. Interested in seeing how we can all interact when we're probably from all over the world and time zones. Love your picture Jillian; I posted a similar one on Twitter from the resort I go to in Vermont (Coventry Club and Resort); it looks fabulous covered in snow, but it looks much better in summer time with us 'au naturel' folk roaming about the place.

Yes, it is pretty in wintertime. But I can hardly wait to see it again in the spring, when water levels are high and the sounds of nature are back again -- I'm thinking peeper frogs that come alive in the marsh area the stream feeds. It won't be long now!

Howdy! It’s Jacob here, from cold and potentially snow-covered Illinois. I wanted to invite everyone to to become familiar with the Naturist Symbol (naturistsymbol.org). If you see the symbol in the wild, you can bet that person also enjoys being clothes-free. Hope you all are warm and well!

Hi, Jacob! It's great to see your post here. I will absolutely download the Naturist Symbol and use it here occasionally. Thanks for posting the link to it. Stay warm! Cheers

I’m kind of easing my way back into the Naturist blogging/SM scene after a long hiatus.

I had previously got a little deterred by a lot of prevalent views about what nudist’s thought people should and shouldn’t be doing. Moreover by how they thought others should be representing the lifestyle or not.

I recently got inspired by a handful of younger people blogging about skinny dipping. Finding their way into nudism and trying to find others with similar interests. It kind of rekindled my own interests on the blogging scene.

I have the good fortune to live somewhere that nudity in and of itself isn’t illegal. There’s no specific law against it and there’s been some stand out cases where certain complaints such as a guy jogging naked, another riding a bike naked were thrown out of court or simply not prosecuted. There was no evidence of lewd behaviour; which is an offence.

So this legal status along with lots of sparsely populated beaches means there’s lots of places to hike and swim naked. I take as much advantage of this as I can through the summer.

My personal take on the normalisation of public nudity is to be nude in public.

For the most part, not up in peoples faces, but being kind of sensible, going about my business and acting with sufficient confidence. I find most people tend not to blink an eyelid. Usually because they’re so caught up in themselves they don’t even notice or just choose to ignore it.

I’ve even had cases where people might have thought it was a nude beach and stripped off themselves and swam or sun baked for a bit.

We also have ads on TV with people skinny dipping. Kathmandu for example.

If you observe fashion trends you’ll notice if people catch on to a trend, like yoga pants, next thing you know everyone is wearing them.

I figure if people notice others skinny dipping, the prevalence of this is far more likely to catch on.

The nudist community have always been keen for people to be curious and join in, if not merely be more accepting.

I think if people don’t see examples to follow then they won’t.

Unfortunately when something requires a membership. Takes place behind closed gates, I’m not convinced that’s seen as a healthy normal pursuit.

I’m quite aware seasoned nudists don’t see it that way. Over some 20+ years however I haven’t seen any wider acceptance by the general public or any less suspicion.

The one exception perhaps are the naked bike rides. Somehow or another more stuff like that needs to occur where people feel okay getting involved if only for a bit of a giggle initially.

Thoughts?

I agree: People would be more likely to go skinny dipping if they see others doing it. As for the Naked Bike Rides, I'm not sure if they inspire others to become naturists. There is certainly a giggle factor associated with it, which may be detracting from the environmental message at the core of it all.

But skinny dipping is my fave naturism pastime.

We'll be putting up a post shortly in which members here can tell us about their blogs and such. Hope to see yours there, too.

i posted the same nude today on my Instagram with the same caption. it lasted about 3 hours before it was removed due to their standards of nudity.. and yesterdays' post on twitter only got a couple likes,, but very few people follow me..

this has been on my mind for a while now, regarding gays and naturism. and i may get major backlash, --but on my twitter i do not state that i am straight. the situation is that i get followed by men that i feel are gay, just to see me. i also was invited to to a gay men's group. on another platform, i have seeen comments that guys should not state that they are straight since it should not matter a preference on a nudist/naturist group. i am curious about other people;s input on gays and naturism. thx

I feel your pain. I did not sign up for them but suddenly I started getting notices from a Meetup group, LA Naturist Guys which really should have been called LA Naturist Gays. Kind of flooded my mailbox. I have nothing against gays but I'm not their target demographic. I unsubscribed and I'm a little irritated that some one subscribed me without asking me first.

I can understand wanting to socialize with nudists with similar interests. A lot of people are looking for love rather then just looking for random people to socialize. It's the same reason many men complain about the lower number of women interested in naturism.

Your sexual orientation shouldn't matter in most naturism groups, unless they state they are specifically a gay naturism group (there are some out there). I think we all get followed by a lot of diverse people on Twitter, but you don't have to follow them back unless you want to. You can also block people from following you there, as well as even seeing what you post -- if they make nuisances of themselves.

Back when I was really into blogging I had built up an audience that was entirely textile. I posted things about anime, nature, whimsical stuff, science, and day to day life. I mentioned once in a while that I was a nudist. One day I got a bug in my head to include it in my blog and I did a PG-13 post I called "Get Naked - Go Hiking." Not only did I not get any negative reactions, It soon became my most popular post. I took this as a sign of curiosity.

Now I felt I could post about my nude hiking without negative reactions so I started doing posts about specific hikes and sometimes I'd include full frontal shots and still didn't have any negative reactions.

A blog post needs to tell a story and not just be a vehicle to show a body. I always try to do photos of the nude in the environment that are not just naked selfies. A picture of a guy on a hike doing the sorts of things people do on hikes and he happens to be nude. I think that's important. Too many nudes are just a picture of a naked body without context and that doesn't go over well. They can come off as glorified dick pics if you aren't thoughtful. I got a couple of responses from people with curiosity about nudism and never saw any negativity.

I've been blogging for 5 years but I haven't blogged much in the last few months. Maybe I've run out of things to say.

I am probably like many in cold climates in that I am waiting for spring. We had more than xix inches of snow yesterday and although it looks beautiful it does not make one want to throw off our clothes and dash about outside.

Yup. We got snow overnight as well. But at least it is mild here today.

I have heard about the flooding in Australia. I hope you haven't been personally affected.

I would love to visit Australia some day. My partner and I have been enjoying some of the excellent TV series produced Down Under. I must say, Australians make some excellent programs. We're currently watching the series Rake on Knowledge TV in Canada: it is such a smart series in every sense of the word.

Hello! So glad to see you. I'm looking forward to hearing about naturism life Down Under, so feel free to tell us about it. We've had a few reports recently about various beaches there, including Sunnyside Beach near Melbourne. It looks absolutely lovely down there. Cheers
