Is Twitter a lost cause for naturists these days?

May is off to a wet and windy start in my corner of the world. But most of the snow is finally gone, and after this week we might actually see a stretch of sunshine, the weather folks are saying. So, outdoor naturism weather is almost here.

The weather was kind of wonky in April here — and in other parts of the world, too. We had a week of summer weather with July temperatures before spring returned and we had to turn the heat back on in our house.

Other parts of the world, such as Spain, have experienced record-high temperatures, and it’s only spring. I am seeing reports that ocean temperatures have climbed to the point that some parts of the world could be in for a hellish summer.

People have been tweeting out dire warnings about impending weather doom on Twitter, amidst a seas of other complaints there — so many of them hateful.

Indeed, I am seeing so much hate on Twitter these days, and a lot fewer tweets by naturists extolling the virtues of naturism. I think Twitter is almost a lost cause, at least for me. Scrolling through feeds there tends to leave me upset. The discord is overwhelming. I suspect many naturists I follow there feel the same, because I am just not seeing a lot naturism talk there anymore.

Perhaps it is for the better, because we live in a time when hate against any form of diversity has become normalized. It may not be possible to speak about social nudity on Twitter soon without being accused by busybodies of all manner of things.

So, to paraphrase a classic Peter, Paul & Mary song, where have all the naturists gone? What social media townhall platforms are you using, if any, to chat about naturism?

I’ve set up accounts on Post and Tribel, but I haven’t been active there yet. I believe that some private townhall platforms have been created for naturists. But what are the best platforms for those looking to raise awareness among the masses?

Feel free to talk about that or anything else related to naturism/nudism in this month’s open forum.

And a warm welcome to all the new subscribers here.

Cheers

Jillian

Hmm. It's not often I am the first to comment to one of my own posts, but shortly after this was published, I tried to share it on Twitter with limited success. Twitter allowed me to post the url, but it didn't expand beyond that.

On May 21, I'll be walking naked across San Francisco in the annual Bay to Breakers celebration. I expect to see a few other nudies as well. How many may depend on the weather and whether nudists are going to let the tradition die. It will be my first real nude activity of the year. I futzed out on going to Olive Dell and doing anything significant at Joshua Tree NP because of a bum knee. Hope to have a write up with photos.
